Algarve nominated for the world's best beach destination
The Algarve is again in the running for the election of the best beach destination in Europe. It is the fifth consecutive year that the most touristic region of the country is nominated for the category of the World Travel Awards, but competes in 43 more in premiums known as Tourism Oscars.
Cannes, France, Corfu, Greece, Majorca and Marbella, Spain, Oludeniz, Turkey and Sardinia in Italy, are the other European holiday destinations nominated in that category, the Algarve won in 2012 and 2013.
According to the statement, the Best Hotel, Best Resort and Best Beach Resort in Europe 2015 can also become Algarve, since the region has 44 of a total of 71 Portuguese appointments in several hotel categories of the World Travel Awards - Europe.
The vote, which is open to professionals and the public, will take place online in http://www.worldtravelawards.com/vote site until July 26.
In 2012 Portugal was awarded the prize of best golf destination in Europe and the Algarve region was considered the best European beach destination in European gala of the World Travel Awards 2012, in the Algarve.
